Carefully remove the headset and smart glasses from their respective packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage and contact support right away if anything looks off. When unboxing the smart glasses, locate and pull the removal tabs between the lenses. The pull-tabs on the smart glasses prevent charging during shipping, make sure to remove the tabs from the glasses before returning the glasses to the case and plugging it in.
Plug in all your devices to charge. Connect each device to its charging cable before proceeding with software setup. Charging during setup ensures neither device powers down mid-configuration. Use only the supplied cables and adapters to avoid damage from incompatible voltage or connector types.
Monitor headset battery status. The headset uses a three-color LED indicator to communicate charge level. Allow charging to reach green before beginning use for the best experience.
Monitor glasses battery status. The smart glasses use a three-color LED indicator, as well.
Run a speed test on a tablet or phone
Using a tablet or smartphone connected to the same WiFi network the devices will use, navigate to a speed test service such as fast.com or speedtest.net. Run the test at least once to get a stable reading.
Confirm download speed meets the threshold
A minimum download speed of 120 Mbps is recommended for reliable operation. If your result falls below this threshold, contact your network administrator or move closer to the router before proceeding. Speeds significantly below 120 Mbps will result in degraded performance or intermittent connections. Minimum recommended speed: 120 Mbps download
Open a browser on any device (tablet, phone, or computer) on your WiFi connected to your network and confirm each of the following sites loads without error. If any site is blocked, contact your IT administrator to safe-list it before continuing.
Napa XcceleratoR site
Navigate to the Napa XcceleratoR site and confirm the page loads correctly. If the site is blocked, contact your IT administrator before proceeding.
Meta Site
Navigate to Meta . Confirm the page loads correctly. Meta’s services are required for headset registration and firmware updates.
Mentra Site
Navigate to Mentraglass. Confirm the page loads correctly. Mentra’s platform is required for glasses configuration, account pairing, and daily use.
Log in to the learning portal
Open a browser and go to NAPA Enterprise Independent Stores and Shops Admin site. Sign in with your administrator credentials. This portal manages course and application licenses for your shop.
Navigate to the license page
Once logged in, go to [license page]. This section lists all available application licenses tied to your shop’s account.
Select XcceleratoR from the license list
Locate and select the XcceleratoR license from the list of available licenses. This is the application license required for the headset and glasses workflow.
Select the user to assign the license to
Search for or select the user account that will be operating the devices. Each license is tied to a single user. If you are assigning multiple devices, repeat this process for each operator..
Click Assign to confirm
Click the Assign button to complete the license assignment. The user will now have access to XcceleratoR on their next login.
The assigned user will need their username and password to access the application. Confirm these credentials are available before handing off the device.
If you own an Apple, use the QR code below to go to your device’s app store and download the MentraOS app for Apple and pair your phone to your glasses.
Strap in! Start your first session seated; you’ll be amazed by how immersive it feels. Then stand up once you’re comfortable.
Clear out a 6×10 ft zone — think of it as your team’s personal training arena.
Pro tip: never tap, touch, or sneak up on someone in the headset. The experience is so real that a startle can genuinely throw someone off balance. Safety first. A little caution keeps the fun going.
The headset runs on its own battery for about 2 hours — enough for a solid session. Clip on the external battery for up to 3 more hours of uninterrupted learning. Charge the external battery separately. Pick a permanent home where both devices live and stay charged — no more hunting for gear!
Here’s where the magic happens. Assign each technician their own software license and profile, so their progress, achievements, and certifications are tracked individually, even when sharing a single headset. Lessons unlock as techs level up. You can even reassign licenses as your crew grows. The system grows with you.
If you are very new to XR, it will be helpful to watch
Wearing your Meta Quest 3S video and BOBOVR M3PRO Head strap Installation video to know what to expect.
Begin by pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds to turn on the device. If the device was asleep, a single press of the power button will wake it up.
Then attach the battery to the back of the headset and plug in the cable to the front of the headset. This is optional but will allow for extended training sessions.
Adjust the head strap for a snug but comfortable fit. A loose fit could cause the device to slide and become out of focus, or it could fall off entirely. The display should be centered in your vision and should not be blurry.
Go through the prompts
Depending on your device, you may have Welcome prompts to go through before interacting with any apps. If you don’t have these prompts, that’s okay just move on to the next step.
From the App Library (the 9-grid on the right of the status bar), select For Work on the left side of the window and you should see the NAPA XR app. Select the app to start.
NAPA XR Setup
Select Create Profile, type in the name you want displayed for your profile. You will then be asked to login with your LMS credentials for NAPA Enterprise Independent Stores and Shops Admin site
Enjoy NAPA XR!
Start with Lesson 1, as it gives an overview of the courses and instructs you on how to use the controls and how to interact with the lessons.
What to expect
There are 21 lessons available, each with 1 or more sub-lessons. Each lesson has a Final Test (except for Lesson 1). Completing the Final Test will mark the entire lesson complete, even if you haven’t gone through it in practice yet. This is also when you will see the lesson get marked as “Complete” in NAPA’s LMS.
Our Road Map
The Beta release (April/May) has a limited number of lessons. Expect shop basics, safety, and how to do a simple brake job. We will be releasing more lessons in June, again in August, and the full release will be available in November!
Final step
Make sure your headset is plugged back in, so it can recharge and download any updates that might have happened since the device was shipped.

Allow Tech Assist to introduce itself first. Once you hear the initial greeting, try a simple test to confirm it’s working:
If you don’t hear an initial greeting, Tech Assist isn’t working. Check the status indicator at the top of the screen and the status button at the bottom of the screen before proceeding.
As an early adopter Beta user, you have access to Tech Assist before its full public release. The Beta knowledge base covers vehicle symptom diagnosis and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) lookup powered by Identifix, plus general guidance from NAPA Know How. Additional Identifix data sources will arrive in subsequent releases, AutoVitals digital vehicle inspection (DVI) integration will arrive in late August 2026, and the full release will be at SEMA in early November 2026.
If Tech Assist tells you a question is not in its knowledge base, your question is logged and forwarded to the NAPA Autotech head of Autotech for review and addition. Beta feedback receives close attention from our team and from NAPA leadership and directly shapes the final product.
Once logged in, go to the license page (https://www.napaautotech.com/pages/231/xr-license-management). This section lists all available application licenses tied to your account. Have your administrator log in and assign licenses.
